From Garden to Tabletop

Here is a slideshow to summarise some of our learning.

Bee Keeping

We were lucky enough today to look at some real bee keeping gear.  We looked at the special hat and gloves the bee keeper wears to stop any stings.  We saw real honeycomb, wax, and a smoke puffer.  Bees take the nectar from flowers back to the tray where they fan their wings really fast to turn the nectar into honeycomb.  Then they make a wax cover to seal it up.  The smoke calms the bees while the trays are removed and the honeycomb is taken off.  Then the tray goes back.  If a bee lands on you try to stay still and quiet.  Bees do an amazing job making delicious honey.

Cross Country

I was so impressed with the fabulous runners in room 7.  Everyone finished the race and tried their best.  A special congratulations to Sophie who came 3rd in the year 1 girls race.  More photos will follow.

SUPER STAR CHAIR

We now have a newly covered sparkly super star chair. Huge thanks go to Poppy and her Dad Neil for doing this.

CELEBRATION ASSEMBLY

Well done to our under 7's t-ball team for having so many fantastic players. Congratulations to Charlotte who received an award for being an excellent runner. We also had some fabulous performers to help with the actions to Bad Hair Day. Thanks Annabelle and Harper.

Room 7 performed a song at assembly today called Seasons.  Here is a video of the performance - sorry it's a bit shaky to begin with.

CERTIFICATES

Harper received a certificate for managing self.  She has been doing this very well.  Charlotte received a certificate for making great progress in reading.  Well done girls.
